๐ Common questions 21
1Please introduce yourself.About youโ
Your confidence, how clearly you speak English, and whether your background fits the program.
Keep it to about one minute. Say: name and city, your last degree and result, the subject you love, one real achievement, and the program you are applying for. Don't read from paper and don't repeat your whole CV.
My name is [Name] and I'm from [City], Bangladesh. I completed my [HSC / Bachelor's] in [subject] with a GPA of [x]. 2What are your strengths and weaknesses?About youโ
Whether you know yourself and are honest โ not whether you are perfect.
Give one strength with a short real example. For the weakness, choose a real but small one and say what you are doing to improve it. Never say โI have no weaknessโ.
One of my strengths is that I'm well organised โ I managed my studies and a part-time tutoring job and still finished in the top [x]% of my class. A weakness is that I sometimes hesitate to speak in big groups, so I've been joining discussion clubs and presenting in class to build confidence.
3Tell us about a challenge you faced and how you handled it.About youโ
How you solve problems and handle pressure โ very important when you live abroad alone.
Use a simple story: the situation, what you did, and the result. Pick something about studies, family responsibility or a team project. End with what you learned.
In my final year our group project fell behind because two members left. I split the remaining work, set small weekly deadlines and stayed late in the lab. We submitted on time and got an A. I learned that planning and clear communication solve most problems.

Say something specific: the ranking or strength of the department, a lab, a professor, a course, international studentsโ support, or the city. Visit the university website before the interview.

If yes, say who and what you discussed. If not yet, say which professors you plan to contact and why their research fits you. Never pretend.
Yes, I contacted Professor [Name] from the [School]. We discussed my interest in [topic] and she agreed to supervise me if I am admitted. I read her paper on [title], and I'd like to build on that work.
